Salt Lake Countywide Watershed Symposium

Salt Lake County anticipates hosting an annual Watershed Symposium each fall. This event serves two main purposes:

1. Serves as an annual meeting of the Jordan River Watershed Council.
2. Provides an opportunity for water quality experts, academics, environmental advocates, and the interested public to learn about and discuss water quality concerns in Salt Lake County.

Who Should Attend?

The Watershed Symposium is an exciting opportunity for water quality professionals, academics, environmental advocates, industry, pand the interested public to discuss water quality opportunities and concerns in Salt Lake County. All water quality stewards are encouraged to attend!

Topics

Symposium topics vary from year to year. It's our goal to foster discussion about the most pertinent water quality concerns, enhancement and planning efforts.

Previous Symposiums have focused on topics such as: development of the Countywide Water Quality Stewardship Plan (WaQSP), potential impacts of climate change on water supply, effects of pharmaceuticals in our streams, LEED Development, recent Supreme Court decisions regarding the Clean Water Act, saltwater ecosystems, implementation of the Water Quality Stewardship Plan (WaQSP), and the use of macroinvertebrates to assess water quality.

Ways to Get Involved

• Give a presentation on a project or issue.
• Host a field trip.
