Water quality in the Jordan River Watershed has improved drastically since 1978 with the completion of the Area-Wide Water Quality Management Plan. However, several water bodies have recently been listed on the State Division of Water Quality's 303(d) list of impaired water bodies for such pollutants as: Pathogens, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Zinc, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and Temperature.
In order to reduce the pollutant loads in these impaired water bodies, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) studies are currently underway for: Little Cottonwood Creek, Jordan River, and Emigration Creek.
