WaQSP WASTEWATER PLANNING ELEMENT
After three years, 125 stakeholder meetings, 200 individual comments, and numerous unofficial discussions, the final Salt Lake Countywide Water Quality Stewardship Plan (WaQSP) was published in August of 2008. The FINAL WaQSP Wastewater Planning Element is now available for public use. Please let us know if there are any comments or suggestions (801.468.2711).
BACKGROUND
The Wastewater planning element considers the effect of wastewater treatment plant effluent on the water quality in receiving waters. Technical memorandums have been developed and presented these to a stakeholder group comprised of POTWs, City representatives, representatives from sewer districts, State government representatives, and water supply representatives. The following powerpoint presentations were used at stakeholder meetings to guide the wastewater discussion.
November 29, 2006 - Wastewater Element I Presentation December 18, 2006 - Wastewater Element II Presentation February 13, 2007 - Presentation to POTW Advisory Group May 4, 2007 - Wastewater III Presentation
SCOPE
1. Provide a description of existing facilities.
2. Review emerging trends in wastewater technology.
3. Review current regulatory standards and trends.
4. Develop wastewater flow projections based on WFRC population projections.
