WaQSP Band

BACKGROUND

The Wastewater planning element considers the effect of wastewater treatment plant effluent on the water quality in receiving waters.  Technical memorandums have been developed and presented these to a stakeholder group comprised of POTWs, City representatives, representatives from sewer districts, State government representatives, and water supply representatives.  The following powerpoint presentations were used at stakeholder meetings to guide the wastewater discussion.

November 29, 2006 - Wastewater Element I Presentation
December 18, 2006 - Wastewater Element II Presentation
February 13, 2007 - Presentation to POTW Advisory Group
May 4, 2007 - Wastewater III Presentation

SCOPE

1.  Provide a description of existing facilities.

2.  Review emerging trends in wastewater technology.

3.  Review current regulatory standards and trends.

4.  Develop wastewater flow projections based on WFRC population projections.

MAJOR RECOMMENDATIONS

Formalize the planning and permitting process.

Perform an evaluation of service area build-out conditions to 2050 and beyond.

Integrate the environmental and public process in the planning and permitting of future discharge facilities.

Evaluate Countywide sewer capacity and flow routing alternatives (model).

Evaluate ongoing Countywide wastewater planning process.
